Landscape Chinese Scroll Painting – Silk Wall Art – Maple Rocks

The maple rocks theme is the heart of this landscape scroll painting, and it beats steadily. The silk surface gives the ink a soft, living quality no paper quite matches. Among pieces of elegant chinese wall scroll, this is the quiet kind: balanced, calm, and easy to live with.

The palette runs bright and varied, a celebration in mineral pigment. Rocks emerge from the mist like the backs of great animals. Falling water provides the one note of motion in an otherwise still world. In the middle distance, the maple anchors the painting's sense of place. There is a musical quality to the spacing, pauses set against passages of detail.

It keeps good company with the finest chinese silk scroll painting, the kind that rewards daily looking. Hang it, live with it, and watch it grow on you month by month. It makes a gracious gift for weddings and new homes.
