Chinese Beauty Scroll Painting – Silk Wall Art – Monks Buddha

Composed in the classical idiom, this beauty scroll painting takes the monks buddha theme for its subject. The composition breathes, leaving the silk's quiet emptiness to do its share of the work. For shoppers browsing timeless asian wall art, this one hits the familiar notes without a hint of fuss.

The painter delights in rock texture, pitting and creasing every surface. The artist lets the scholars speak plainly, without ornament or excess. Here the monks takes its place in the composition's larger rhythm. The buddha appears as a small pleasure of the composition, easily missed and worth finding. Here the mountains are less a backdrop than a presence, weighty and calm.

As a piece of ink wash painting, it carries the calm authority of the classical tradition. Hang it where the light is gentle and the room is quiet, and let it do its slow work. A calm, cultured backdrop for a study, hallway, or quiet corner.
