Chinese Beauty Scroll Painting – Silk Wall Art – Herder Buffalo

The herder buffalo theme gives this beauty scroll painting its center, rendered in the old manner. There is nothing hurried here; the brush takes its time, and so should the viewer. It belongs with the best of feng shui home decor, the sort that settles into a room from day one.

Snow dusts the branches and ridges, quieting the whole scene. Painted with an easy, practiced brush, the willow feels observed rather than invented. Here the buffalo takes its place in the composition's larger rhythm. Painted with an easy, practiced brush, the herder feels observed rather than invented. Ink wash carries the picture, graded from deep black to the palest gray. There is dignity in the restraint, and warmth underneath it.

It keeps good company with the finest chinese silk scroll painting, the kind that rewards daily looking. For the newcomer, it is a gentle doorway into the classical tradition. A thoughtful present for anyone starting a collection.
